Take Tests Have a classroom atmosphere Emulate a classroom atmosphere as much as possible. Eliminate any distractions, sit in a quiet room (without your text book or notes, of course) and take that test. Do your best to take the test in one sitting without any breaks whatsoever. It is something you must get used to.
Certainly, there are always going to be some distractions wherever you take tests, however, you need to focus on taking the test and finishing it within your time limit. College instructors usually will not let you leave the room before your test is finished. If they do let you leave, they may not let you back in.
Get used to different kinds of tests Also, practice multiple styles of tests. Take multiple choice question tests. Have short answer questions and true/false questions. Take some essay tests. Regardless of how well or how poorly you do, or how hard your teacher made the questions, you are learning when you take tests. You are learning what its like to take tests and you should not be so nervous when it comes to taking tests in college.
What kind of tests are appropriate? Obviously, the style of test should fit the subject matter being tested. For example, history and science tests could use multiple choice, true/false and even short answer style questions to test knowledge of facts. English tests, or anything requiring a more subjective response should use essays and short answer style questions so that it is possible to give an opinion and support it. Math tests, of course, require math problems. Also, you can ask other relevant questions based on math theory, outside of working problems.
I recently had a statistics class wherein the questions that gave me the most trouble were the ones where the teacher asked true/false questions relating to math theory and information beyond being able to work the problems. |
