Homeschoolers Need To Take Those Dreaded Tests

Take Tests
I will be honest. When I was homeschooled, I did not take very many tests. We figured, and I still think it was rightly so, that tests were not the best measurement of how well I was learning something. So my grades were based on my homework and what few papers I wrote.

However the downside of that is I obviously did not take very many tests, especially timed tests, closed book tests, and tests in a general classroom-like setting. I simply did not have a lot of testing experience. The first time I took a test in college I had to ask the teacher how I was supposed to answer the questions. I had extremely limited test taking experience.

The simple fact is, when you get to college, you will take tests. You will take a lot of them. I think you already know this. Some classes do have more tests than others, but this is not so bad because when you only have two or three tests, your grade is going to hinge much more on those tests than it would in a class with six or seven tests. While you are still in the comfort of your own home, take some tests so that you have at least some test taking experience to prepare you for college.
