Types of College Courses There are a few different formats in which you can take college courses nowadays. I am sure you know about the traditional classroom style, of courses, but there are a couple others you might be interested to know about.
Online Courses You can now take college courses online. Most people have the misconception that an online course means that everybody and the professor are going to all log on at the same time and have a class. This is not the case, and in my opinion, this would actually defeat the purpose of having such a course.
The way it really works is that the professor will have all of his/her lectures posted online. You will then be assigned work that corresponds to their lectures. You will also have reading requirements and be assigned tests, quizzes and/or essays. (In my experience the tests and quizzes were usually online.)
The beauty of online courses is that all the information is going to be set out for you to digest at your own convenience (time of day-wise, not pace of semester). You will still have deadlines for everything, but you do not have specific classes to be at. If you have any questions or need help with anything, you can e-mail your professor. This type of class is more for the self-disciplined student. |
