I strongly believe in homeschooling as the best method of teaching any student.
I simply loved homeschooling. I spent my first 6 years of school in the public school system before my family moved across the country and started homeschooling me through my middle and high school years. Since my brother was only a few years ahead, I was able to study with him and graduate a year early.
I really think there is no comparison to homeschooling. I loved homeschooling so much more than the public school system. I actually enjoyed learning instead of merely grinding out my hours in a classroom. I truly believe homeschooling can work for virtually any family, in almost any situation.
I have heard the comments from parents who think they could never do it. They say that they do not know enough to teach things to their kids, or, that they would not make very good teachers. My mom once told me that we would not like to have her for our teacher. I begged for the chance to prove her wrong.
The way I view it is that if the parents are going to take a personal interest in their child's education, they are guaranteeing that child a much better an education than they could find in public schools, and probably even more than most private schools.
Of course, the next step after homeschooling is college. For some, this is a difficult transition, for others it is easy. I think that with some preparation, the process from homeschooling to college can be made as smooth as possible. (I go into more detail on this process in my articles.)
Curriculum is always a major subject with homeschoolers. That is usually the first thing you will be asked by another homeschooler. I am no exception. I have my hands down favorite curriculum and that is what I would recommend to anybody. If you're interested in hearing about me ramble on about my favorite home school curriculum head over here.
Who am I anyways? Why should you even care what I have to say? Well, if you want to find out whether I'm even qualified to go on about these things, head over here to find out about me.
