Homeschoolers Need To Search for and Apply for Scholarships

Apply for Scholarships
I will freely confess, I am not much of an expert on scholarship hunting. However, I know that unless you are sitting on a fortune you will undoubtedly be better off if you can get some scholarship support for your college education. There are plenty of scholarships out there, you just have to hunt for them, and apply to any you think might be worthwhile.

Also, be leery of these places that will gather facts or information about you and then send a customized list of scholarships tailor-made for you. They usually cost $30 to $40 or more.

My dad tried one of these scholarship services for my sister many years ago. He was not impressed with the results and after months of nagging and complaining he finally got his money back. Again, with all things, I suppose there are some of these services that are good and some, which aren’t.

My dad finally ordered the book How To Go To College Almost For Free . From this book we learned many of the basic strategies needed to get scholarships. (He thought the book was pretty good. However, he thought it would have been better if his children actually did some of the things the book suggested.) In any case, the book was written by a pretty knowledgeable fellow who found enough scholarships to pay his way through Harvard.

If you want to tackle the scholarship hunt yourself, you can search the net with one of the major search engines. You can start your search by using the following terms:

                        homeschool scholarship
                        homeschool scholarship
or
college scholarship (which will give you many more sites.)
